Treating a sick child takes more than a doctor and a hospital bed. It takes equipment that actually works, programs built around what kids need, research that keeps improving over time, and people around the family who understand what they're going through. That's the gap organizations like Just for Kids Foundation try to fill. A donation isn't just money moving from one place to another. Honestly, the real value is what it lets healthcare workers do with it - better tools, better programs, a little more room to actually help. What Just for Kids Foundation actually does. The foundation started in 1987. A group of parents got together because they wanted Montreal Children's Hospital to have the kind of equipment a modern hospital needs. That's the whole origin story, and it's stayed the mission ever since. Since then the numbers have added up. More than $15 million has gone to the hospital. Over 1,500 healthcare professionals have used the funding to improve how they treat patients. Almost every department at the hospital has been touched by it in some way. The foundation also built the JFK Sibling Park and committed money to the Heart & Hands Pediatric Clinic - two projects that show up again and again when people talk about what the foundation has actually built, not just funded.

Brandon Shiller of Hillpark Capital shares his perspective on disciplined real estate investing, risk management, and building sustainable wealth through long-term ownership strategies. In every market cycle, there is a temptation to focus on what is happening right now. Investors watch interest rates, track transaction activity, monitor economic forecasts, and attempt to predict short-term market movements. While understanding current conditions is important, some of the most successful real estate investors share a different perspective. They focus on the long term. Over the years, I have come to appreciate that sustainable wealth creation in real estate is rarely the result of a single transaction or a perfectly timed market entry. More often, it is the outcome of disciplined decision-making, patient capital, and a commitment to long-term value creation. At Hillpark Capital, this philosophy has guided many of our investment decisions. Rather than chasing trends, we focus on identifying assets with strong fundamentals, creating value through active management, and maintaining a long-term ownership mindset. While market conditions will continue to change, the principles that drive successful investing remain remarkably consistent.
